Twenty-five New Living Homes and Masterton staff members are participating in this weekend’s Sydney to Gong Charity Bike ride. The ride raises funds and awareness to help to provide services and assistance to people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
‘We have a lot of riders in the company who go on weekly rides every Sunday, and a few of them have participated in the MS ride before,’ said New Living Homes’ Marketing co-ordinator, Jessica Haldane. ‘It’s a great cause to raise awareness for and a good challenge for all involved.’
MS is a chronic disease which attacks the central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves). It can often be debilitating for those living with the condition. It is the most common neurological disease in young adults, and often attacks people when their lives are just beginning.
Every day four people are diagnosed with MS.
What’s the ride like
Celebrating its 35th year, the MS Sydney to Gong ride is one of the most respected and spectacular community bike ride.
Running through the Royal National Park and along the ocean road, the rider go through spectacular scenery. It is also physically challenging with plenty of steep sections on the route. You can check out a map of the ride here.
How you can help people with MS
